The 1 million square foot terminal, with its iconic “Miami” wall airside provides services to the concourse “J” as well as the existing concourse “H” which hold over 20 international arrivals gates to Miami International Airport called “The Gateway to Central and South America.  The design solution incorporates the idea of light and volume which is very much lacking in the existing terminal building, but such a necessary concept in identifying Miami as a unique place, different than any other place in the world.  As a major hub of international arrival passengers, security is paramount in the design and planning of the terminal, without sacrificing the views and vistas of the surroundings, including the Miami City skyline to the east.
