Major League Baseball commissioned the architects to conduct a study and find a downtown site to house the Florida Marlins in a last effort to keep the team in South Florida. The architects not only designed a ballpark in a tight 12 acre site, but participated in assembling the properties and costing out five different roof options for different budget scenarios. The site was chosen for its adjacency to mass transit on two edges, one with Metrorail on the west with an existing station and the People Mover system along the south edge.
