The FIU School of Architecture design competition sought internationally renowned architects to compete for a design solution that was expressive of the unique organization of this school composed of three distinct areas…Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design, along with the unique South Florida context of this campus.  The design solution of the new School of Architecture building weaves the design ideologies of three distinct professional disciplines, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design, into one cohesive collection of spaces, both built and natural.  It results in a dialogue of programmatic and functional relationships to form, space and indoor/outdoor opportunities unique to South Florida context, while creatively addressing the prescriptive guidelines imposed by the university’s Campus Master Plan for building sites along the entry “Mall.”
