Casa Grove I is located on a lush tree filled lot that fronts on a heavily traveled avenue in the north part of Coconut Grove, Florida.  The lot is forty feet wide by one hundred seventy feet deep and containing several huge oaks that were preserved.  The courtyard design allows for the main public spaces to be buffered from the traffic and street noise by a front structure that contains the carport and bedroom/studio above.  The entry sequence is such that the side setback is used as a filter to the house, deliberately extending the arrival sequence, making a small lot appear larger.
